Apple recently (Oktober 11) introduced the iPhone 4S to the world in lieu of introducing the iPhone 5. They are holding off on the iPhone 5 and many are going to rush out to get the upgraded iPhone 4S. Does this mean you will need to get an iPhone 4S Docking Station as well or will it work with your current docking station?
Before we get into whether or not you need a new docking station you need to understand what the iPhone 4S is. This is an upgraded version of the iPhone 4 and will feature a new operating system. This operating system is going to allow the phone to do much more and it is supposed to be faster than the iPhone 4.
The new iPhone 4S also has a feature called Siri. This is a personal voice assistant which will allow you to communicate with your phone by talking to it. This is probably the most noticeable upgrade from the original iPhone 4 and may be the reason you think you need to get a new iPhone 4S docking station.
It also comes with a very powerful dual-core A5 processor, faster download speeds, and an upgraded camera. The camera is 8 megapixels, which competes with many of the Android phones on the market. It is also capable of recording 1080p videos.
Another new thing to know about the iPhone 4S is it is now available from Sprint. This means you may be one of the new customers and you simply do not know much about the iPhone family just yet. If this is the case, then you need to understand what type of docking station will work for your new phone.
So, with all the upgrades to the phone are you going to need to get a new docking station for your iPhone 4S? The answer is no, but you do need to understand what the future may hold and why your iPhone 4 docking station will work for your iPhone 4S.
Since the iPhone 4S is very similar in design, size, and weight to the iPhone 4 it will fit in most docking stations and you will be able to use it in all the normal ways. Apple decided not to radically change the design of the iPhone 4S, but you should expect some changes with the iPhone 5 when it is released in mid-2012.
Consumers should be on the lookout for new and more advanced docking stations for the iPhone 4S, however, because of the Siri voice assistant. This could change the way your docking works and you may have to get an upgraded docking station to take full advantage of this feature. For right now, you can simply use the current docking station you have been using for your iPhone 4.
It will be interesting to see how these new docking stations could work and what they will allow you to do with the voice assistant, but they are not out yet and as of right now there are no plans for a release. No reason to worry, though because you can use your current iPhone 4 docking station or you can get one to act as your iPhone 4S docking station for now.
