Logitech S715i Rechargeable Speaker for iPod and iPhone

Logitech has the reputation to be a trustworthy audio hardware manufacturer. With the Logitech S715i Rechargeable Speaker for iPod and iPhone, they did some good to their reputation. It has a unique look of a medium-sized black box hiding eight custom-tuned speakers and a trayless docking station at the top for our iPhone and any iPod with its Universal Dock Connector.

When packed in the black bag that comes with it, you can travel with it anywhere safely, although it feels cheap under hand, like one of those bags you get in grocery stores. If there was a special bag for it, like an accessory or something, we’d buy it immediately. In the box was also a cool remote and a power adapter for overseas power grids, which is simply a must have feature for a portable. We may look a little nitpicking here when we say that the adapter could be better if its prongs were foldable or retractable, but it could be just our opinion because we don’t like things poking through our bags.

Consisting of simple controls and additional shuffle/loop buttons, the remote looks fair enough and rests comfy and firm in our hands. Its long-rang and the manual lies about it being strong enough to control your music from thirty feet away – we could barely reach twenty feet or so with a new battery, but why would you place it 30 feet away anyway? The internal rechargeable battery works up to eight straight hours of medium loud music, but in our case it worked only for about 6 and a half hours with Power Save mode enabled. We noticed this being a common problem among other reviewers so we suggest you think of it as six hours instead of mentioned eight in the manual. All in all, a good purchase for the money but it could be better in our opinion.
