Sony RDP-XF100IP Portable iPod Docking Station
While looking like a black and sturdy satellite sound tablet on the front with a touch of mystery, the Sony RDP-XF100IP Portable iPod Docking Station delivers a great radio experience with its digital FM Radio, storing 20 of your favorite stations wherever you go with it. That’s right, it has a rechargeable battery so you can put it with your iPod or iPhone 1 wherever you want even if a power outlet is out of reach, you just have to plug it in when you’re done.
Speaking about the battery, we were a little disappointed when the juice held out a little over 5 hours instead of mentioned 7 hours of reproducing mid-loud background music in my home without a break, but it played its role well. The sound quality is not to be left unmentioned with 40 Watt (20W + 20W) glorious quality sound output from its speakers enough to challenge the pricy Bose station in quality, but not in power. Unlike some other docking products we’ve tested, its bass and treble processing quality doesn’t just disappear when unplugged, this is a big plus considering its purpose. Also, while plugged in and charging its battery, the Sony RDP-XF100IP charges your iPod or iPhone1 in the retractable flip-down dock on its front. You don’t have to worry about it being stable since it’s a little heavy for our portable radio station tastes, but it will stay firm wherever You put it. Looking at the price and back at the Sony RDP-XF100IP, we would say this is a perfect radio docking station for the price category.
